England defeated Sri Lanka, they take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series

After Gus Atkinson took five wickets in the second test at Lord's on Sunday, England won the series against Sri Lanka and put him back on the Lord's honours board.

On Day 4 at the home of cricket, England defeated Sri Lanka for 292 runs in their second innings to win by 190 runs and take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. It supported England's July 3-0 triumph against the West Indies. England's rising star, Atkinson, is a fast bowler who took 5-62 after smashing a spectacular 118 as a No. 8 in the opening innings to put his side up for victory. The first test was won by England last week in Manchester. On Friday, The Oval will host the third and final game of the series.

England overcame an excellent fight from Sri Lanka, which included half-centuries from Dimuth Karunaratne (55), Dinesh Chandimal (58), and Dhananjaya de Silva (50). Chris Woakes and Olly Stone also contributed a pair of wickets. The visitors were aiming for a world record 483 to win, and they began the day with a 53-2 lead.
