After the Black Caps won the second Test on Saturday to earn their first series victory in India, New Zealand captain Tom Latham expressed his immense pride in his squad. New Zealand was by far the better squad and gave India its first series loss at home in twelve years following a humiliating 2-0 loss in Sri Lanka, which led to Tim Southee resigning as captain.

New Zealand punished India with a spin in Pune after destroying them with pace in the eight-wicket triumph in Bengaluru. Mitchell Santner took 13 wickets in the match to help write a 113-run victory. In Mumbai, where the series finale starts on Friday, Latham stated that New Zealand will aim for a perfect sweep. Latham says, "Many New Zealand teams have visited here over the last 69 years, so it's great to be in the position of winning two test matches here." It's unique to be the first team to win a series here, and I'm really happy about this squad."
