New Zealand pacer Tim Southee has announced his retirement from Test cricket, with the upcoming home series against England marking his final appearance in the format—unless New Zealand reaches next year’s ICC World Test Championship final in June. Southee will bid farewell to the Kiwi whites at his home ground, Seddon Park in Hamilton, during the third Test from December 14-18. 

Approaching age 36, Southee is New Zealand’s all-time leading wicket-taker across formats (770) and ranks second in Test wickets for the team with 385 in 104 matches, behind only Richard Hadlee. He will decide on his white-ball retirement ahead of New Zealand's series against Sri Lanka in late December. Remarkably, Southee is the only pacer to play 100 games in each format and has taken over 300 Test, 200 ODI, and 100 T20I wickets.
