Barcelona has finally got some positive news regarding Frenkie de Jong

The Dutchman could return to training next week

Following five months of the Dutchman's absence due to an ankle injury, Barcelona has finally got some positive news regarding Frenkie de Jong. Due to his belief that surgery is not a surefire solution to his injury, De Jong has decided not to have it done. According to Mundo Deportivo, the Dutchman's solo training sessions over the past four days have yielded "very good sensations."

After notifying the team, the midfield player will ultimately resume first-team practice the following week. De Jong has been exercising "sprints, turns, ball control and passing exercises completely normally" with the Barca physiotherapists. The next stage is for him to work with the full group after returning to some light training, like Gavi and Ansu Fati have been doing. De Jong still has a little more to go before he's ready to play, but it appears that after a very frustrating period on the sidelines, the midfielder is finally making progress.
