Inglis' historic century leads Australia to a thrilling victory against Scotland
As the tourists defeated Scotland in a series on Friday in Edinburgh, wicketkeeper Josh Inglis hit the quickest century by an Australian in T20 internationals.
As Australia enjoyed a 70-run triumph at The Grange, the 29-year-old, Josh Inglis hit triple digits in 43 deliveries, giving them an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. In men's T20Is, the previous national record was 47 balls, which he, Glenn Maxwell, and Aaron Finch shared. Australia defeated Scotland 4-196 in the Scottish capital thanks to Inglis' scorching 103 (49), which included seven sixes, while his colleagues battled with time on the two-paced surface. All-rounder Marcus Stoinis' career-best bowling effort helped the hosts roll out for 126 in 16.4 overs, never looking like they would reach the 197-run total.
In 3.4 overs, the West Australian collected 4-23, his first four-wicket haul on an international field. Cameron Green, an all-rounder, took two wickets. After Inglis was bowled out in the penultimate over, pinch hitter Tim David lit up the scoreboard with a brilliant unbeaten seventeen off seven balls, including back-to-back sixes.
