Knicks Acquire Former Suns Guard

A former three-point shooter for the Phoenix Suns has relocated.

On a one-year contract, former shooting guard Landry Shamet of the Phoenix Suns has joined the New York Knicks. G Landry Shamet, a free agent, and the New York Knicks have reached an agreement on a one-year contract. Throughout his career, Shamet has averaged 8.7 points and 38 percent from three-point range. Shamet was released by the Washington Wizards in July, becoming a free agent. After being a part of the Chris Paul trade that saw the Wizards and Suns get Bradley Beal for Paul, he spent the whole previous season playing for Washington.

Shamet was a member of coach Monty Williams' rotation for the Suns prior to the trade, having joined the team in 2021. In October 2021, Shamet agreed to a four-year, $43 million rookie scale contract deal with the Suns. Before moving to Phoenix, Shamet had played for the Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, and Philadelphia 76ers. He now plays for the Knicks with former Suns colleague Mikal Bridges.
