Haaland breaks record in Man City's 2-1 victory against Brentford

Erling Haaland broke Wayne Rooney's 2011 Premier League record during Man City's 2-1 victory against Brentford.

Erling Haaland, the top scorer for Manchester City, appears to be determined to shatter every record this year. After scoring twice in City's 2-1 victory against Brentford, Haaland may have cemented himself as the greatest striker in the world of football. The Norwegian scored two goals that demonstrated the diversity of finishes he can produce. He scored with a weak-footed effort before chipping Mark Flekken from close range and then scored once more.

Following his brace against Brentford, Haaland has scored nine goals this season. This is the most goals a player has scored in the opening four games of a Premier League season, with Rooney having established the record with eight in the 2011–2012 campaign. In Manchester United's first four league games, the retired marksman scored eight goals: a hat-trick against Arsenal and a goal each against West Brom and Tottenham Hotspur.
