Max Verstappen has expressed his desire to see Formula 1 return to Mugello
Max Verstappen has long been an advocate for high-speed, challenging tracks and named one circuit in particular when asked about venues he would like to see on the F1 calendar.
Max Verstappen has expressed his desire to see Formula 1 return to Mugello, praising the circuit's “fast corners” and flowing layout. The Italian track, typically used for motorcycle racing, made its F1 debut in 2020 during the Covid-19-disrupted season, challenging drivers with its high-speed corners.
Verstappen, who qualified third that year but was eliminated on the opening lap in a multi-car crash, remains a fan of the circuit. Speaking on the Box Box Box podcast, the three-time world champion stated, “Mugello. Fast corners. Just flowing tracks. Not too many lower-speed, stop-start [sections].” He has been vocal about his dislike for many newer, street-based circuits on the F1 calendar, favoring traditional tracks with a better flow. When asked about adding ovals to F1, Verstappen opposed the idea, reaffirming his preference for dynamic and challenging layouts like Mugello.
