Moeen Ali announces his retirement from international cricket

Moeen Ali is quitting international cricket.

Moeen Ali, who was largely ignored for England's forthcoming white-ball series against Australia, has declared that he is quitting international cricket. The last time the all-rounder played for England was in the 2024 T20 World Cup when they lost to India in the semifinals.

In his ten-year career, Moeen played 138 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 92 Twenty20 Internationals for England, making his white-ball debut during their 2014 West Indies tour. Moeen made his Test debut at the Lord's during Sri Lanka's tour to England later that year, and he went on to represent England in 68 matches. In all three forms, he ends with 6678 runs for England, which includes eight hundreds and twenty-eight fifties, as well as 366 wickets. In addition, Moeen stated that he would keep playing franchise cricket and that he would eventually pursue a career in coaching. Currently, Moeen is playing with the Guyana Amazon Warriors, the reigning CPL 2024 winners.
