Marseille grabbed a 3-1 win over Auxerre
Marseille slumped to its second successive French league loss at home when Auxerre grabbed a 3-1 win at the Stade Vélodrome on Friday.
The irate home crowd jeered and yelled at Roberto de Zerbi's squad, and several Auxerre players even tried to comfort Marseille midfielder Adrien Rabiot. The fans, who jeered and whistled their side, showed no such pity. After losing to the Qatar-backed team 3-0 in its most recent home match, Marseille was trying to maintain some pressure on Paris Saint-Germain.
However, it received a shock on Friday when Lassine Sinayoko scored after defender Lilian Brassier made a mistake in the tenth minute. For Auxerre, it was the Malian forward's second goal in as many games. Gaëtan Perrin and Hamed Junior Traoré gave the visitors two goals in three minutes before halftime, making matters worse. In the second half, Marseille made an effort to reply, but Auxerre had a better chance at the opposite end.
