Spain beat England to win Euro 2024

England’s quest to end 58 years of pain and disappointment ended in failure as they were beaten by Spain in the Euro 2024 final at Berlin's Olympiastadion.

In the second consecutive European Championship final, Mikel Oyarzabal's late winner proved to be too much for Gareth Southgate's squad, leaving England devastated once more and unable to put an end to their lengthy wait for triumph with the men's team.

England captain Harry Kane was benched on the hour due to poor form. But four minutes from time, Oyarzabal headed home Marc Cucurella's cross to give Spain the victory and send England back to the brink of defeat. By putting their faith in two extraordinary young players who were instrumental in preventing England from winning this specific prize, Spain has risen to the top of the European league. Williams, the other main long-term hope for Yamal, was full of confidence and enthusiasm from the first whistle, finishing flawlessly when given the opportunity to score the first goal.
