Stones, Trippier provide fitness updates

England duo John Stones and Kieran Trippier have insisted that they will be ready to play in Saturday's Euro 2024 quarter-final against Switzerland.

The Three Lions defeated Slovakia in Sunday's last-16 match, coming back from a goal down to qualify for the quarterfinals. After a spectacular overhead kick by Jude Bellingham sent the match into extra time, captain Harry Kane headed home the winning goal.

Stones participated in the game on Sunday for the entire length, and then he was spotted exiting the Veltins Arena with his right knee strapped. Trippier has been dealing with a calf problem during the tournament, but going into the quarterfinal, it seems like a knee problem is his biggest worry. The full-back for Newcastle United was struck in the knee just before Cole Palmer took his place in the 66th minute of the match against Slovakia in the round of 16. Although there is clearly worry over the defensive pairing, Stones and Trippier are both optimistic that they will be prepared to play in the Dusseldorf semifinal.
