Newcastle are reportedly in the race for highly-touted forward
Newcastle are reportedly in the race for highly-touted forward, Igor Jesus, who is currently plying his trade for Botafogo in the Brazilian Serie A, reveals TBR Football.
A deal for the Brazil international is far from simple, as other Premier League teams, including Fulham, Brentford, and Nottingham Forest, are expected to compete with the Magpies for Jesus' services. There are clearly many fans of the youngster, and if Newcastle is serious about pursuing him, they may need to act quickly. A few teams in the top tiers of the competition, such as Arsenal and Chelsea, have also expressed interest in him. Jesus formerly played for Shabab Al-Ahli, a team headquartered in Dubai, but in 2024 he returned home to play for Botafogo.
He has scored five goals in 17 games for the club, and in October, his efforts earned him his first call-up to the senior Brazil national team. He has already earned three caps and contributed two goals. In his country's World Cup qualifying match against Venezuela, he most recently started as a striker with players like Vinicius Junior and Raphinha.
