Newcastle 'in contact' with a South American star
Newcastle United are apparently scouting a Boca Juniors midfielder ahead of a potential trade.
Eddie Howe's Newcastle United were undoubtedly quiet and frustrated during the summer transfer window, with the Magpies adding only two players, none of whom could make an instant impact on the first team. Newcastle made multiple proposals for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, but they were unable to complete a move for the former Chelsea player. After many back-and-forths, the deal could not be completed. Newcastle now shifts their focus on Boca Juniors midfielder Kevin Zenon, who has thrived for the South American club.
The Argentine team signed him from Unión Santa Fe in January, and the midfielder has four goals and seven assists in 32 appearances this season. The Magpies are interested in signing him and have already made contact. The Argentine's contract runs until December 2028, Boca Juniors wants $20 million to let him leave. Newcastle might potentially make a bid for him in January.
