West Ham United have reportedly set their sights on Manchester City's James McAtee as a potential replacement for Lucas Paquetá, whose future remains uncertain under Julen Lopetegui amidst interest from Brazilian side Botafogo. 

McAtee, 22, emerged from Manchester City's academy and made his senior debut in September 2021. While he featured sporadically during the 2021-22 season, a loan spell at Sheffield United in the Championship proved pivotal. McAtee played a key role in the Blades’ promotion to the Premier League and rejoined them on loan for the 2023-24 season. Despite gaining valuable top-flight experience, Sheffield United faced relegation, prompting McAtee's return to City. However, opportunities have been limited under Pep Guardiola, with just one Premier League substitute appearance and a Champions League goal against Slovan Bratislava highlighting his campaign. West Ham could offer the talented midfielder a fresh start with more consistent playing time.
