Borussia Dortmund defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0

Dortmund, who had already lost and drawn against PSG this season in the group stage, can continue to dream of a return to Wembley 11 years after their last Champions League final.

In their Champions League semi-final first leg on Wednesday, Borussia Dortmund defeated Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 thanks to a performance that saw the journeyman striker outperform sensation Kylian Mbappe. The 1997 winners, who were going for a first-ever final appearance since 2013, were tenacious and unflappable as they defeated their much-favored rivals in front of almost 80,000 spectators.

In the 36th minute, 31-year-old Fuellkrug, participating in his debut Champions League season, received a lofted pass from center-back Nico Schlotterbeck and sent a low effort into the left corner of the net. Early in the second half, Kylian Mbappe's PSG struck the crossbar twice in quick succession but could not capitalize. Dortmund may still hope to make it back to Wembley, 11 years after their last Champions League final—they had previously lost and drawn against PSG in the group stage this season.
