Roma has supposedly been in contact with the agents of renowned former center-back Mats Hummels of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. The World Cup champion from 2014 and recent finalist in the Champions League will officially depart Dortmund at the end of June when his contract expires. The summer transfer window will then come around before he becomes a free agent.

Florent Ghisolfi, the director of Giallorossi, has been in communication with Hummels's group to inquire about the potential of moving to the Italian city this summer. Despite the fact that Hummels was reportedly making €3.7 million a season in Germany, his pay is not seen to be a significant obstacle because he will be free to sign for another team. There are even hints that if Roma agrees to give a two-year deal with a one-year option, the pay demands may be lowered.
