Stuttgart denies Augsburg a chance to play football in Europe

Serhou Guirassy scored the only goal for Stuttgart.

Augsburg's home loss to Stuttgart in the Bundesliga means they won't be playing in Europe next season. With one game left, a victory would have kept Augsburg's aspirations alive, but they never seemed like they could defeat a team that has already secured a spot in the Champions League for the next season.

In the ninth position, Augsburg is one point behind Hoffenheim, who will be visiting Darmstadt on Sunday. Stuttgart moved up to second place, one point ahead of Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich, who play on Sunday. While Bayer Leverkusen, who are coached by Xabi Alonso, have already been crowned champions this season. Serhou Guirassy scored the lone goal on Friday one minute into the second half. The striker from Guinea scored his 26th goal of the year with a crisp finish.
