Ranieri leaps ahead of the Line
Claudio Ranieri might be taking over the reins at Roma.
If all goes as planned, Claudio Ranieri will be named the next coach of Roma on Wednesday. He has gone to London to meet with Dan Friedkin, the owner of Roma. Following a string of rejections and issues, the former Cagliari manager emerged as the front-runner. Some of the coaches the Giallorossi approached had no interest in taking over in the middle of the season. The decision-makers were not entirely persuaded by others.
Due to Turkey's next Nations League games, Roma would have had to wait a few weeks to bring in Vincenzo Montella, even if they were ready to pay the €1.5 million release clause to free him. Now the 74-year-old will sign a contract until June that might include an opportunity to consider a front office position in the future.
