Barcelona will NOT sign Federico Chiesa from Juventus

The key was whether Barcelona could clear enough space in the wage bill

Federico Chiesa, who also decided to join FC Barcelona, was set to move to Juventus FC, according to an agreement signed between the two teams. According to the Italian media, the agreement might be finalized on Wednesday or Thursday, assuming Barça could find sufficient room on their payroll.

The Spanish media claims that the contract was finally terminated by that last line. Although the deal made sense for both sides—Barcelona gains a cheap winger, Juventus receives money to acquire Jadon Sancho and avoid losing Chiesa on a free transfer next year—it appears that it has been ruled out. Although Barcelona signed Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, they have not yet officially registered him. After missing the first two La Liga games of the season, the Catalans are negotiating arrangements to ensure he plays the following game.
