Due to Josh Hazlewood's side injury, Boland is expected to be included in Australia's XI for the second Test match in Adelaide.

Boland, who has previously done well with the pink ball in day-night Test matches, is a ready-made option for the Australians. Prior to Hazlewood's injury becoming known, the Victorian was selected to participate in Sunday's PM's XI match against India. Given that it provided India's Test hitters with an opportunity to prepare against Boland in same conditions as the second Test, there are now doubts over whether it would have been prudent to remove him from that match.
