Didi Hamann doubts Conor Gallagher will play for England again at Euro 2024
Didi Hamann doubts Conor Gallagher will play for England again at Euro 2024 after being substituted at half-time in the 0-0 draw against Slovenia.
Conor Gallagher was withdrawn during halftime of England's 0-0 draw with Slovenia, and Didi Hamann is skeptical that he will play for his country again at Euro 2024. After attempting with Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield during England's first two games, Gareth Southgate offered Gallagher an opportunity right away in their last group encounter against Slovenia. However, it was among the worst 45 minutes of the competition as England was unable to get out of first gear. Young Manchester United player Kobbie Mainoo replaced Chelsea midfielder Gallagher after halftime.
Former Germany international Hamann told RTE that he doesn't think Gallagher will play for England again at the tournament because England was clearly superior in the second half. "If you stick to these big players and they clearly don't perform, I think there's a case to drop them. I think there's a case to drop Foden, Bellingham, and Kane," Hamann said.
