Red Bull faces a significant challenge at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, struggling without a low-downforce rear wing. This leaves Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez at a disadvantage, with the RB20 lacking straight-line speed, trailing rivals by 7 km/h—costing around six-tenths of a second per lap.

The team attempted to “trim” the rear wing between FP1 and FP2, but the solution remains insufficient against competitors equipped with specialized low-downforce setups. As a result, Verstappen and Perez finished FP2 in disappointing P17 and P19, respectively. Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko acknowledged the issue, confirming that no alternate wings will be flown to Las Vegas. This raises questions about Red Bull’s decision not to prepare a low-downforce wing for this race, a critical oversight for a circuit emphasizing straight-line performance. For now, the reigning champions must adapt within their current limitations.
